The figures below are hypothetical teaching examples. Confirm current
rates and the final checkout total before quoting customers.
1. Measure the Transfer
Multiply final width by final height to find square inches, then
divide by 144 to convert to square feet.
10 in × 12 in = 120 sq in
120 ÷ 144 = 0.8333 sq ft
Keep extra decimals until the last step so early rounding does not
distort a large order.
2. Find the Current Rate
The applicable price depends on the supplier’s current structure
and total qualifying area. DTFZoo currently publishes $2.00 for
1–50 sq ft, $1.75 for 51–100, $1.50 for 101–500, and $1.25 for 501+.
Verify the
live wholesale pricing
and checkout configuration because rates can change.
3. Calculate Total Transfer Area
Multiply the unrounded area of one transfer by quantity. In this
hypothetical example:
0.8333 sq ft × 100 = approximately 83.33 sq ft
The precise result, not a rounded 0.83 input, should drive the
estimate.
4. Calculate the Order Cost
Multiply total square footage by the applicable rate. At the
currently published 51–100 sq ft rate, the hypothetical calculation
is:
83.33 × $1.75 = approximately $145.83
This is instructional arithmetic, not a checkout quote.
5. Divide by Shirt Quantity
Divide the estimated transfer total by the number of shirts
receiving those transfers:
$145.83 ÷ 100 = approximately $1.46 per shirt
Keep freight or other costs separate unless the costing policy
deliberately allocates them.
6. Add Multiple Placements
For front, back, sleeve, or multiple-logo garments, calculate each
placement.
Per-shirt transfer cost = Transfer A + Transfer B + Transfer C
Group shirts by configuration instead of assuming every garment
consumes identical artwork.
